When you are being overtaken by another vehicle, it is important to remember that they are likely moving at a faster speed and attempting to pass you. Speeding up to maintain your position may cause them to weave in and out of traffic unsafely, and maintaining your speed and not changing lanes will not allow them to safely overtake. Sounding your horn may startle the other driver and cause them to make unsafe maneuvers. By moving to the right and allowing the vehicle to pass safely, you are allowing the other driver to pass smoothly without causing any danger to themselves or others on the road.
